We put our life’s savings into a few inns and a Camp in the Carmel and Carmel Valley area.  Monterey Peninsula, home to wine region with rolling hills and oak trees, offers a 30-minute drive along California’s magical central coast.  Discover the story behind each inn, restaurant, or tour guide — the experiences that will, “create a memory to glow by.”

I wanted to be a doctor. It was in my medical school that my grandpa, I called him Popo, died in. Popo loved to travel, especially in Latin America. My relatives said Popo had “itchy feet”; and he traveled and wrote short stories and drew pictures for Reader’s Digest.

After he died, I enrolled as an exchange student in Guadalajara Mexico, thinking it was a good way to memorialize his life. The semester ended and it was on that long, 33-hour train ride home, I decided I too, had itchy feet and wanted to pursue a career in travel. Here I am some 33+ years later, owning little motor lodges, inns, and a camp. I love travel, I love dogs, and I love the outdoors!

Here’s to all those with itchy feet!

I grew up in a small town in Nebraska. I knew there was a big world out there, and I wanted to see it. After winning a scholarship, I spent the year after high school living and studying in Germany and a semester of University in Romania. I haven’t stopped travelling since.

I worked for Radisson Hotels in college, but after that, I’ve always worked with independent hotels. Someone asked me about my hobbies. The only thing that came to mind was sitting at a café with friends old and new, and solving all the world’s problems over great food and drink. Is that really a hobby? I sure hope so.

I grew up in the Central Coast of California and one of my first jobs was at an inn in San Luis Obispo, CA. Having a love for math, I became enchanted with the workings of a small business. I was surrounded by passionate owners and managers who juggled both the numbers and the human side of business. As a youth, I was able to witness examples of small business owners that were personally fulfilled in their work along with being financially rewarded.

I graduated summa cum laude from UCLA with a degree in Mathematics/Economics and am now getting my CPA and MS in Accounting from the University of Colorado… so you may ask… why not go work for Wall Street? Although I have almost 20 years in the industry building large companies for big money and big investors, I want the personal connection one only finds in a small business. I love to travel, I love the numbers, but more importantly I love helping small businesses maneuver through all the obstacles they face today so they can achieve personal and financial fulfillment.
